The Microsoft Office RoundTable is a table-top device that provides synchronized voice and video conferencing. What’s cool is that from a video perspective, it produces “a 360-degree, panoramic video of side-by-side images of everyone who taking part in the conference.” The system can then identify and spotlight the individual who is speaking so that one receives prominence in the conference while delivering one’s comments. RoundTable works in conjunction with Office Communications Server 2007 and Office Live Meeting, so conference participants can integrate virtual presentations, share whiteboards and transfer files in one homogeneous environment. The system also logs conferences so that users can go back and review what transpired. The RoundTable system is currently in testing across Microsoft campuses and will soon move into beta testing in the Microsoft Technology Adoption Program. The system is expected to be available at some point in mid-2007 for less than $3,000.CrunchGear » Blog Archive » Microsoft Office RoundTable: An Answer to Costly Teleconferencing?
Well, it's here, and since it's Internet Explorer, I'm sure it's here to stay.
The final release seems to be more stable than the beta/rc versions... so I can't complain much about crashes...yet.
One thing that has managed to piss me off already is that the Gradient CSS Filter disables ClearType text! How annoying is that? A bunch of apps I've designed now look all jagged and bizarre.
Argh.Scientists in Germany say they have successfully teleported the combined quantum state of two photons. That achievement is said to be the first for a composite system, and the researchers say their approach could lead to new ways to harness quantum effects for communication and computational purposes.
The new version of DOCSIS (Data-Over-Cable Service Interface Specifications) will allow for jaw-dropping physical layer speeds of 160Mbps downstream and 120 Mbps back up—more than a fourfold increase over current rates.
What does it do? Folder Size for Windows adds a new column to the Details view in Windows Explorer. The new column shows not only the size of files, but also the size of folders. It keeps track of which folders you view, and scans them in the background so you can see complete size of all files within the folder. It's very useful for cleaning up your disk. Once you get used to having that information available, a directory listing simply looks incomplete without it!FolderSize on SF FolderSize Source Code
